SHAMEFUL BREEDERS PAGE

THESE ARE EXPERIENCED RABBIT BREEDERS WHO BELONG TO RABBIT CLUBS DELIBERATELY SELLING SUBSTANDARD AND FAULTY RABBITS TO UNSUSPECTING NEW BREEDERS AS QUALITY SHOW STOCK.

In my opinion - and many others – these type of breeders who belong to rabbit clubs and attend shows, know exactly what the BRC (British Rabbit Council) breed standards are for the type of rabbits they breed and when they deliberately mislead or lie about their stock to new rabbit breeders they deserve to be shamed. It is these experienced breeders who know better that will be shamed by me, not backyard breeders who deliberately breed and sell crossbred bunnies as that is another issue.

I will not name the breeder, but I will state their general location and state and it is then up to the rabbit clubs that these people belong to, to take action against their breeding practices as they give the Rabbit Fancy as a whole a bad name. The rabbit world is a very small place where everyone knows each other and their stock will be recognised by other club members.

There are a lot of new breeders who have been complaining to me about how they have been ripped off and were unintentionally breeding these faulty substandard rabbits before they learnt the truth and boy are they angry. And I don’t blame them. Just put yourself in their shoes. They go to an experienced breeders stud, said breeder very experienced and the breeder gives them a whole lot of misinformation – in other words total bull$*^& -  and the new breeder has no reason to doubt them as to the new breeder the experienced breeders are ‘gods of the rabbit world’ especially when the breeder shows them certificates that the rabbit has won. The new breeder is not to know that the 1st place certificate was won either when the rabbit was at its first show at 8 weeks (these are mainly Does) or because it was the only animal in its class and thus had no completion, so was awarded the placing by default.

First shamed breeder comes from Melbourne, Victoria who sold what was supposed to be a show quality Harlequin Mini Lop. When the new breeder (Newbie) asked about the ears standing up instead of being lopped the breeder told the Newbie that it was a bit stressed and they would go down again when it was calm. Yeah, right

This is the rabbit (below) sold to the Newbie, and on the bottom right is a picture of a good show quality Harlequin Mini Lop for comparison and to show what a quality one looks like.
